In this talk, Dr. Shian-Ling Keng will present an overview of her research program, which focuses on examining the effects of mindfulness-based interventions, and the mechanisms through which these interventions affect psychological and physical health. The talk will feature a randomized controlled trial evaluating the effects of mindfulness-based stress reduction on emotion functioning and biological aging, followed by findings of laboratory studies examining the effects of brief mindfulness induction on emotion regulation in a variety of contexts. The talk will end with a summary of recent work that Dr. Keng has carried out with regards to the adaptation of mindfulness-based interventions (i.e., dialectical behavior therapy) for implementation in low resource and marginalized contexts.
