Validation and modulation of neural circuits underlying reward-based decision making in mice using optogenetics
People make decisions all the time from daily hassles to lifelong decisions. Many daily decisions are made based upon our previous experience. Optimization of rewards require the ability to update information about different options. In recent years, an increasing number of studies have concentrated on reward-based decision making. Previous studies reported that the target regions of dopaminergic system (including the medical prefrontal cortex (mPFC) and dorsalmedial striatum (DMS)) play a crucial role in reinforcement learning. However, it remains unclear that how these brain areas are involved during different stages of decision making process. To investigate the role of neural circuits underlying reward-based decision making and to establish a causal link, optogenetics are applied to modulate neural activity in the mPFC and DMS of mice during different stages of our mouse version of dynamic rewarding task. The choice behaviors of mice will be fit into the reinforcement learning model to estimate some parameters for decision making process. Electrophysiological recording will be performed in the mPFC and DMS in behaving mice to reveal neural activity in the brain as well.
第四場
題目:Calamitous moments: The psychological phenomenology of self-integration and adjustment in burn patients during a developmental transition
Burn patients may experience shock with the self, other, world, and their meaning of life after the burn experience. How patients integrate their past, present, and future self-experience, thereby assimilating with others and sociocultural context is an important concern. This is true especially for patients who are in the period of developmental transition from adolescence to early adulthood and are in the stage of forming and developing their unique self. In this context, the study applies a thematic analysis to explore the keyword of patients’ self-integration process, among those who had a burn experience in public and within a group. The study attempts to be the empirical basis for future long-term psychological rehabilitation.
